Iraqi striker Mostafa Karim, who left Ismaili last summer, said Cairo duo Ahli and Zamalek were interested in signing him after the end of the season. Karim enjoyed a successful two-year spell with Ismaili before moving to UAE side Sharjah. A return to the Egyptian league is seemingly in the cards for the 22-year-old. "Ahli and Zamalek officials contacted me over the possibility of joining them," he told Iraqi paper Al-Sumaria News on Saturday. "I want to return to the Egyptian league, where I rose to prominence after producing fine displays with Ismaili." Karim played a key role in helping Ismaili finish runners-up to league champions Ahli last season. He finished as the competition's second top scorer with 11 goals, one behind former Ahli striker Flavio Amado and Gaish's Ernest Papa Arko. Ahli, who wrapped up a sixth consecutive league title, and second-placed Zamalek suffered from the lack of reliable strikers this season. Zamalek, who could play Amr Zaki in their Egyptian Cup games after he ended a loan spell at English side Hull City, are looking to re-sign Middlesbrough-bound striker Mido. Ahli are yet to reveal their plans for the summer transfer window but are expected to look for a new striker to support Egyptian international Emad Meteb, their top scorer this season with nine goals.
