Bundesliga side mid-tablers Hamburg have relieved manager Bruno Labbadia of his duties, the club said on Monday. Hamburg, who only drew 0-0 at home with Fulham in the Europa League semi-final first-leg last week, were thrashed 5-1 by Hoffenheim on Sunday. "We analyzed the situation and we saw that as things were we would not be able to succeed against Fulham," club president Bernd Hoffmann said. "It was the last moment for us to react to keep our Europa League target in sight." Hamburg, currently seventh in the Bundesliga, will visit Fulham at Craven Cottage on Thursday. Dutchman Ricardo Moniz will take over until the end of the season.
