Bayern Munich boss Louis van Gaal hopes that Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney is not seriously injured, in the wake of Tuesday's Champions League game. Rooney scored his fifth goal of the competition at Allianz Arena, but Bayern came back to win 2-1 before the England striker was carried off in agony. While United wait on the scans of the ankle of their talisman, Van Gaal has showed sympathy with Rooney ahead of next week's return leg. "I don't know whether Rooney is seriously injured but I think that Rooney is very important for Manchester United," the Dutchman said. "He is their most important player and if you look at the statistics, then you see that Rooney has scored 31 goals. "Rooney is so important for Man U and I hope for United that he is not seriously injured."
Unbelievable Despite the slender lead, Van Gaal was more than satisfied with his side's performance against the English champions. "It was incredible to find ourselves 1-0 down so early on, we needed 10 minutes to recover," he said. "But then we played unbelievable football against a top team. "We have a good chance in Manchester because we can always score away from home."
