The Egyptian Premier League break could have adverse effects on the in-form Zamalek, football director Ibrahim Hassan said on Wednesday. Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan, Ibrahim's twin brother, turned around the fortunes of a team who faced the unthinkable prospect of being relegated to the second division prior to his arrival. The Cairo side lost only once in eight matches under his guidance to climb up the table and revive their hopes of launching a late and an unexpected assault on the league title. They could narrow the gap with leaders and arch-rivals Ahli to seven points if they win their game in hand against Petrojet next month. However, Ibrahim Hassan voiced concerns about the potential effects of the league's 12-day break, during which Egypt will face England in a friendly game at Wembley next Wednesday. "This break could harm us. It came at the wrong time because we are enjoying a fine run of results," he said on Zamalek's official website. "However, we will do our best after the break to make sure we maintain our winning streak." Zamalek, who sacked Swiss Michel Decastel and Frenchman Henri Michel earlier in the season before appointing Hossam Hassan, won their last six games and conceded just one goal in process.
