CAN 2010: The best of group stage
Published in FilGoal on 22 - 01 - 2010

The African Cup of Nations group stage has come to an end, with no real surprises concerning the eight quarter-finalists.
FilGoal brings you the best picks from Angola 2010 so far.
Best Match: Angola 4-4 Mali
Eight goals in the opening game is something you don't often see in big competitions, and the extraordinary Mali fightback made it even more special.
The Malians shocked the hosts with four goals in the final 11 minutes to overturn their four-goal trailing; undoubtedly the best comeback in the competition's history.
Best Player: Ahmed Hassan (Egypt)
The 35-year-old was incredibly consistent during Egypt's perfect group-stage record. He took part of every single minute of his team's three matches in Benguela.
Hassan, who was involved in most of the Pharaohs' goals, is on the verge of breaking Hossam Hassan's record as Egypt's most capped player of all-time when he appears against Cameroon.
Best Goalkeeper: Essam Al-Hadari (Egypt)
Although he didn't have much work to do against the likes of Mozambique and Benin, Al-Hadari remains unrivalled as Africa's best keeper. The 37-year-old conceded once in three games.
Best Goal: Seydou Keita (Mali) vs. Malawi
A rocketing 30-yard freekick by the Barcelona midfielder dispatched into the top corner of Malawi's net.
Mali 3-1 Malawi but de Seydou Keita exceptionnel.

Best Sub: Geddo (Egypt)
The inexperienced Ittihad ace proved to be a masterstroke by Egypt coach Hassan Shehata after scoring twice in his first two competitive matches.
Geddo stole the limelight from Mohamed Zidan and Emad Meteb more than once.
Biggest Upset: Malawi 3-0 Algeria
The Flames of Malawi grabbed their first-ever Nations Cup victory with an astounding 3-0 drubbing of World Cup finalists Algeria. It was one of the most shocking results in the competitions history.
Blunder of the group stage: Kennedy Mweene (Zambia) vs. Cameroon
A hilarious gaffe from the Zambia keeper allowed Cameroon to come back from a goal down and snatch their only victory in Group D.
Own-goal of the group stage: Chedjou (Cameroon) vs. Tunisia
Beating Mozambique Dario Khan's own-goal brace, Cameroon defender Aurelien Chedjou lobbed his own keeper with a header from all 20 yards!
Top Quote
Mozambiaque FA chief Fezal Sidat:
"There is no point to renew with Mart Nooij, who could not fulfill his goal of taking the team to the final," there was not a snowball chance in hell that manager Nooij would have kept his job as Mozambique boss.
