Zamalek have revealed that striker Mido is in a 'poor psychological condition' after being left out of Egypt's African Cup of Nations squad, stressing that he is fully fit. The Cairo club's official site stated that chairman Mamdouh Abbas will set a meeting with the 26-year-old in an attempt to raise his morale. Mido was surprisingly omitted by Egypt boss Hassan Shehata from the final roster heading to Angola, with speculation suggesting that he is not fully fit. However, Zamalek vehemently dismissed that fitness is the reason behind his absence. "Before Mido joined the national team's camp, I made sure he is fully fit and I am confident he doesn't have any problem at the moment," chief medic Mostafa Al-Monayeri said. "The back injury he sustained in the league cannot be the reason behind his omission. He played against Malawi and was OK."
Blow In the same manner, Zamalek boss Hossam Hassan questioned Shehata's decision as he believes Mido's absence to be a blow for the team. "Of course the Egypt manager is totally free to make his own decisions, but Mido is a very important player," the outspoken Hassan told Nile Sport TV. "Not just in the Nations Cup, Mido should have been present in the recent World Cup qualifying campaign. "I played with him and I know he is a combative forward with a lot of energy. Mido's absence is a blow for Egypt." Mido's last competitive game with Egypt was back in March, when he made a second-half appearance in the 1-1 home draw with Zambia.
