Zamalek have started to take actions against the Egyptian FA for upholding Harras Hodoud's victory over the Cairo club, chairman Mamdouh Abbas said on Friday. Hodoud beat Zamalek 2-1 but fielded an ineligible player in forward Ahmed Eid, who should have been suspended but was wrongfully given the green light to play by the EFA's competitions committee. Zamalek demanded the EFA to replay the game but the Egyptian governing body turned down their request. "We don't want to deal with the EFA anymore," Abbas told a press conference at the club's headquarters. "Our first action will be withdrawing from the seven-club committee which is responsible for holding talks with the EFA over the league's broadcasting rights." Zamalek usually feel they are mistreated by the EFA, whom they believe favor their arch-rivals Ahli.
Eid participated against Zamalek despite being suspended Several minor issues incurred the White Knights' wrath this season but the Hodoud saga proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back. "We don't have any problems with Hodoud because they have nothing to do with that conflict, it was the EFA's fault," Abbas added. "We appealed their decision to uphold Hodoud's victory but if they do not accept it we will further escalate the matter." The competitions committee head Nayef Ezzat has already handed in his resignation but the EFA declined to admit they were mistaken in the conflict. They are heavily criticized by local media for the ambiguity of their regulations and for failing to implement a consistent policy while managing domestic competitions.
