No team in the Egyptian Premier League experienced the bad luck Ahli had to endure so far this season, coach Hossam Al-Badri said on Wednesday. Al-Badri breathed a sight of relief after a depleted Ahli side snapped a three-match winless streak at the expense of Gouna, beating the promoted club 1-0 at Cairo Stadium via a second-half goal from Francis Doe. They had done so without a host of key players, including Mohamed Abou-Treika, Mohamed Barakat, Moataz Eno, Sayed Moawad and Gilberto. "My players are very exhausted. Most of them play in the national team and they play too many domestic games," Al-Badri told reporters following the win over Gouna. "Our opponents play very tough games against us because we are the leaders and the defending champions and this result in many injuries." The string of injuries which hit Ahli players left Al-Badri with no choice but to field several youngsters and substitutes in the draws against Ittihad, Zamalek and Ismaili and the victory over Gouna. Winger Ahmed Shokri and versatile midfielder Abdullah Farouk in particular put in some promising display during those four games. "We did our best to deal with the injury problems," Al-Badri, who took over at Ahli following the resignation of Portuguese coach Manuel Jose after the end of last season, added.
