Bari heaped more misery on Juventus with a 3-1 home victory in the Serie A on Saturday. The defeat will mount further pressure on Juve's beleaguered coach Ciro Ferrara, who saw his side fail to get beyond the Champions League group stage after an embarrassing 4-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich in midweek. They fell behind against Bari after seven minutes when Riccardo Meggiorini's deflected volley found its way past Gianluigi Buffon. French veteran striker David Trezeguet leveled the score on 23 minutes when he notched home on the rebound after Diego's shot was palmed by the keeper into his path. Juve were soon on the back foot again, with Brazilian striker Paulo Barreto converting a penalty one minute before the break. Brazilian playmaker Diego had a golden chance to equalize when the visitors were awarded a penalty for a foul on Fabio Grosso but he ballooned the ball high over. Argentinean midfielder Sergio Almiron scored against his former club with nine minutes remaining to make sure of Bari's victory. Juventus remain third in the league table with 30 points, one behind AC Milan and four adrift of leaders Inter Milan. Milan and Inter can go further clear of Juventus if they beat Palermo and Atalanta respectively on Sunday.
