Members of Giza local council tabled a proposal to change the name of a street from "Algeria" to "Hassan Shehata", the coach of Egypt's national football team. A row erupted between Egypt and Algeria in the aftermath of Wednesday's World Cup qualifier which the latter won 1-0 to reach next year's South Africa finals. Right after the final whistle, violence broke out with many Algerian fans attacking Egyptian supporters with knives and blades in Sudan capital Khartoum. The Algerian actions prompted a flurry of furious condemnations in Egypt. "We are discussing the proposal to name the street Hassan Shehata," council head Mostafa Al-Khatib told Al-Hayat TV. "We will see first whether Algeria will apologize for these unfortunate incidents." Facebook groups were also created to change the name of 'Algeria square' in Maadi, a wealthy suburb in Southern Cairo.
