Thousands of Egyptians gathered in front of the Sudanese Football Association in order to buy tickets for their country's World Cup playoff game with Algeria, which will be played on Wednesday. The Pharaohs beat Algeria 2-0 on Saturday to force a decider, after both teams became equal in points, goal difference, goals scored and head-to-head record. According to Sudanese paper Koon, around two million Egyptian fans are seeking to attend the game at Merreikh Stadium, which accommodates only 40,000 spectators. Only a third of the stadium seating is designated for the Egyptian fans, the report mentioned. More Egyptian fans are traveling to Sudan on Tuesday and Wednesday, hoping to egg on their team from the stands. On the other hand, Sudanese FA president Kamal Shadad assured that heightened security measures would be taken on Wednesday to avoid any possible post-match riots. People without tickets are prohibited from entering a three-kilometer perimeter around the stadium, and thus no ticket outlets are located within this area. Egypt had their first training session on Sunday night, and they will train at Merreikh on Monday. Their last session will be held at Helal Stadium.
