Manchester United moved top of the Premier League after securing a narrow 2-1 home victory over Bolton Wanderers as Chelsea succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday. Holders United, who eye a fourth successive league title, took the lead when Villa defender Zat Knight deflected Michael Owen's header into his own net after five minutes. Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia doubled their advantage on 33 minutes with a powerful shot after exchanging passes with Owen. Matt Taylor pulled one back in the 75th minute after heading home Kevin Davies' cross and Bolton pressed forward in search of the equalizer but eventually failed to break down United's defense. United are one point ahead of Chelsea, who surrendered top spot after throwing away their lead to lose to Villa. Didier Drogba put them ahead on the quarter-hour mark after Villa keeper Brad Friedel failed to deal with his long-range shot. Richard Dunne headed in the equalizer in the 32nd minute before another header, this time from James Collins, sealed their win seven minutes after the break. Sunderland claimed a surprise 1-0 victory over Liverpool, thanks to a Darren Bent shot which bizarrely deflected off a balloon and found the net. United's first goal United's second goal Bolton's goal
