Stuttgart have dropped goalkeeper Jens Lehmann for Wednesday's German Cup game against fourth-division VfB Luebeck after he attended Munich's beer festival without their permission. The former Germany guardian infuriated Stuttgart coach Markus Babbel when he made that visit following the team's 2-0 Bundesliga defeat to Cologne on Saturday. "The visit to the festival was part of a charity event which was planned a long time ago," Lehmann commented. "In any case, it was not agreed with the club. Naturally, I accept measures taken by the sporting management." It remains to be seen whether Stuttgart, who gained just five points from six matches, will take further action against Lehmann. "On Thursday, (director of sport) Horst Heldt and I will speak to Jens about this affair. After that, we will see what happens next," Babbel said on the club's website.
