An out-of-sorts Egypt side salvaged a 3-3 draw with Guinea in a friendly game held in preparation for the Pharaohs' upcoming World Cup qualifier against Rwanda. An error-prone defense cost Hassan Shehata's men dearly, as their rearguard is to blame for Guinea's all three goals. Hosni Abd-Rabou opened the scoring only after four minutes, and Soliman Youla brought the score level on the half-hour mark. Influential midfielder Abd-Rabou put Egypt in front again shortly after, but Youla canceled out the hosts' slender lead on the stroke of half-time. Kaba Diawara hit the third for the visitors right after the break, and second-half substitute Ahmed Eid restored parity deep into injury time. In Charge Egypt were in charge during the early minutes of the game. Petrojet forward Al-Sayed Hamdi was given a rare berth in the starting eleven, and he proved his worth by setting up the opener.
Hamdi dribbled past a challenger to whip in a cross that was headed home by Ahli Dubai star Abd-Rabou. On 13 minutes, Mohamed Abou-Trieka was gifted a scoring opportunity when he intercepted the goalie's loose clearance, but the skillful playmaker failed to take advantage of his blunder. The Egyptians took a stranglehold on the game after taking the lead, and Guinea became dangerous on the counter attack in return. Egypt goalie Essam Al-Hadari could have sustained a shoulder injury as he hit the post while trying to parry a shot, which went wide of the mark. But the 36-year-old received quick treatment on the pitch and the game was resumed in no time, although he first seemed to be seriously hurt. Disorganization Youla equalized for Guinea after going one-on-one with Al-Hadari thanks to the Egyptian defenders' unjustified disorganization, which resulted in poor marking. Abd-Rabou notched the second goal after converting a free-kick on 32 minutes.
On 45 minutes, Hani Saied awkwardly lost the ball to give Guinea the chance to launch a counter attack, which was successfully rounded off by Youla. Ismail Bangoura eluded Mahmoud Fathallah to flick the ball to Youla, who slotted home after producing a nice feint to trick Al-Hadari and two more defenders. Diawara scored a dubious goal for Guinea on 46 minutes. The instant replay verified that he handled the ball before going one-on-one with Al-Hadari, who was waving to the referee along with his teammates in vain. Guinea had several scoring opportunities afterwards, and then the second half turned into a dull affair. Another cross from Hamdi seconds before the final whistle was diverted into the net by Eid to save the African champions' blushes. The match's goals
