Zamalek striker Amr Zaki and goalkeeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed picked up injuries during their side's 3-1 Egyptian Premier League victory over ENPPI on Friday. Zaki, who was making his first competitive appearance with Zamalek since finishing his loan spell with Wigan Athletic at the end of last season, was stretchered off in the second half. He was replaced by newly-signed striker Sayed Mosaad. "I suffered hamstring pain and asked coach Michel Decastel to replace me," Zaki told FilGoal.com following the game. The Bulldozer was nowhere near his best although his teammates excelled to secure a convincing win in their league opener.
Al-Sayed was also injured "Zaki exerted lots of efforts even though he was not 100% fit. He sustained a similar injury during the pre-season training camp," Swiss tactician Decastel commented. The 26-year-old will undergo scans to determine the full extent of the injury. Zamalek's regular keeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed was also scathed during an otherwise happy night for the White Knights. "Abdul-Wahed asked to be substituted after straining his calf muscle. It seems he had this problem before the match, but when I asked him whether he was ready to play he said I'm OK," Decastel added. Stand-in guardian Abdul-Monsef was introduced in the second half, making a couple of decent saves before conceding ENPPI's only goal by Ahmed Al-Muhammadi.
