Zamalek youngster Hazem Emam has been called up to Egypt's squad for the crunch World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on July fifth. "I will join Egypt's training camp later today," the talented right-back told FilGoal.com on Saturday. Emam was named in the Pharaohs' squad after versatile midfielder Ahmed Fathi pulled out due to a knee injury. The 20-year-old, who impressed with Zamalek in the second half of last season, could make his Egypt debut against Rwanda. He was included in the team's squad for last month's friendly against Oman but did not feature in the game. Ismaili defender Sherif Abdul-Fadil and Arab Contractors striker Ihab Al-Masri have also returned to Egypt's squad ahead of the Rwanda clash. Egypt have no choice but to beat Rwanda in Cairo to keep alive their slim hopes of reaching the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The six-time African champions are yet to win in Group C of the qualifiers' final phase. They were held to a 1-1 home draw by Zambia before losing 3-1 at Algeria. Egypt, who have a game in hand, lie at the bottom on one point, six behind leaders and rivals Algeria. Only the winners of the five groups will advance to the World Cup.
