Egypt have protested the late penalty conceded against Brazil, stressing that referee Howard Webb's decision was based on video evidence. Defender Ahmed Al-Muhammadi parried the ball with his arm in the last minute and the referee awarded a corner-kick. But he made a U-turn, awarding a penalty and giving Al-Muhammadi his marching orders after consulting with the fourth official. "As far as I am aware there is no rule allowing video evidence", Egypt assistant coach Shawki Gharib told a press conference. "We're not contesting the referee's decision but the way it was made." Kaka converted the controversial spot-kick as Brazil edged 4-3 past Egypt in Group B opener in the Confederations Cup. Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan said after the game that the becnh was surprised by Webb's late decision. "He waited too much time before awarding the penalty. It was an astonishing decision," he said.
