Baptista slams 'incredible' Serie A refereeing
Published in FilGoal on 17 - 03 - 2009

Roma forward Julio Baptista blasted Italian referees claiming that Serie A officials favor top duo Inter Milan and Juventus.
Leaders and defending champions Inter have been repeatedly involved in refereeing-bias speculation in recent years, but La Biesta believes that second-placed Juve are also being favored.
"In my opinion the situation doesn't just regard Inter. I have seen it happen with Juventus on four different occasions and it has always been something incredible," Baptista told Italian newspaper Guerin Sportivo.
"I would like to understand one day how certain things happen. [Against Atalanta] the linesman was next to the Juve player and he did not do anything about it.
"I have never seen anything like it in all my career. I don't think referees are falsifying the league, but I have never seen things like this happen in other leagues."
Fourth Place
Roma are currently sixth in the league table, trailing Inter by no less than 20 points, but Baptista remains hopeful the injury-hit Giallorossi can salvage a Champions League spot next season.
"It's a shame as we have had to deal with many injuries. We have to be a little more careful on that side of things. If we can sort this out then we will be able to finish fourth," added the Brazilian.
"We have to keep our feet on the ground and aim to finish the season with a Champions League place."
