Petrojet replaced Ahli at the top of the Egyptian Premier League after coming from behind to beat Gaish 3-1 in Suez on Friday. Ghanaian striker Ernest Papa Arko put the visitors in front in the first minute but Hassan Gomaa equalized on the quarter-hour mark. Eric Bekoe, a January arrival, scored his first goal for Petrojet to give them the lead in the 30th minute. Substitute Mohamed Farouk wrapped up the win seven minutes after the restart. The victory put Petrojet on top of the table with 34 points, one ahead of title holders Ahli, who could move back to the summit if they beat Masri on Saturday. Gaish, who beat Arab Contractors 3-2 in their previous league game, lie 12th on 19 points, just one ahead of the relegation zone. Makeshift Defense Petrojet manager Mokhtar Mokhtar had to field a makeshift defense due to the injury of Ayman Ramadan and Mohamed Al-Fakahani. Natural midfielder Kamal Ali played as a sweeper while substitute Hesham Nubi replaced Ramadan. Gaish's in-form striker Papa Arko needed 50 seconds to stun the home crowd.
Despite being under pressure from Nubi, Papa Arko neatly controlled Dodzi Dogbi's cross with his back to goal before turning and firing past stand-in keeper Ibrahim Abdul-Gawad. He took his tally to eight league goals to go level with joint top scorers Ahmed Gaafar, Mostafa Karim and Mohamed Barakat. Petrojet's abundance of attacking talents made up for their defensive lapses and helped them overturn the deficit. Defender Gomaa leveled the score on 15 minutes with a left-footed volley from inside the area after being set-up by a fine cross from talented forward Al-Sayed Hamdi. Ghanaian striker Bekoe, who partnered his compatriot Cofie Bekoe upfront, put Petrojet ahead when he capitalized on a mis-timed jump by Gaish keeper Wael Khalifa to head home Osama Hassan's pinpoint left-wing cross. Farouk, who came on as a second-half substitute, sealed the victory in the 52nd minute, thanks to another assist from Hamdi. Hamdi was released by Ali's deft pass before sending in a low cross that eluded Khalifa and found former Ahli striker Farouk, who tapped in into an empty net. Gaish finished with ten men on the pitch after right-back Mohsen Hendawi, who scored a hat-trick against Contractors, was sent off for dissent. Watch the match's goals
