Saudi side Wehda have made a bid to sign Ahli midfielder Ahmed Hassan before the closure of the January transfer window, a source close to the player said on Sunday. "Wehda officials contacted Hassan when he was in Saudi Arabia to participate in their friendly against Bayern Munich," the source, who refused to be named, told FilGoal.com. "The club then tabled an official bid but Ahli are yet to reply." Veteran Egypt midfielder Hassan joined Ahli in the close season after his contract with Belgian giants Anderlecht expired. He put in superb displays in Ahli's two Cairo derbies victory over Zamalek early in the season but failed to maintain his battling performances in midfield. Reports indicated that he was growing increasingly frustrated at being frequently substituted by Ahli coach Manuel Jose. But Hassan recently revealed that he didn't consider leaving the six-time African champions. "I intend to see out my contract as I'm enjoying my time here," he told Ahli's official website. Several Saudi clubs made no secret of their desire to land some of Ahli's stars. Shabab are in talks with Ahli to sign Angolan striker Flavio Amado after seeing their offer for defender Wael Gomaa turned down by the Red Devils. Ahli have also rejected to sell out-of-favor striker Osama Hosni to Hazm.
