Spurs eyeing Appiah deal
Published in FilGoal on 06 - 01 - 2009

Ghana captain Stephen Appiah looks to be on his way to joining Tottenham, upon the request of coach Harry Redknapp.
The 28-year-old midfielder, currently unattached after quitting Fenerbahce last August, is training with the London club in prospect of a free winter move.
"He had a bit of a problem with his knee but he is fine now - he's fit and looks okay. If he is fit he's a terrific player," Redknapp said.
"He is going to train with us and we'll have a chat and see what the deal is."
Appiah's injury problems in recent years forced him to miss the 2008 African Cup of Nations on home soil, where the Black Stars finished third.
Redknapp revealed his old admiration to Appiah, who was close to joining Portsmouth during the former's days at Fratton Park.
"I watched him an awful lot for Ghana - about six times - but I ended up taking Sulley Muntari because Juventus were asking £14m for Appiah," he added.
Spurs are looking to bolster their midfield in January, amid injuries of some key players, in addition to the unsettlement of Hossam Ghaly.
The Egyptian is struggling to get his foot onto the pitch since his shirt tantrum in 2007, which made him an undesirable figure with Tottenham supporters.
