Slovak Mario Vlk will referee the anticipated Egyptian Premier League clash between Ismaili and Ahli on Saturday. The 34-year-old has just started his international career, with his first overseas match being in the Intertoto Cup. The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) assigned the match to a foreign referee to quell any potential talks of favoring either Ismaili or Ahli. Traditionally, the EFA only appoint foreign referees for the Cairo between derby between Ahli and Zamalek. But they permit any club to demand a foreign official for their match as long as that party pledge to pay his expenses. Ahli and Ismaili decided to do so after their rivalry intensified during the past few years. Ismaili are second in the league table with 29 points, six ahead of fourth-placed Ahli, who still have three games in hand.
