Beckham will increase Serie A popularity - Mourinho
Published in FilGoal on 27 - 12 - 2008

Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho believes that David Beckham is going to be a pivotal asset for the Serie A.
AC Milan have signed the veteran midfielder on a three-month loan deal from LA Galaxy starting January.
Even though Beckham's move to the Rossoneri stirred a lot of controversy, Mourinho assured that the 33-year-old is a great addition to the Serie A.
"To have one like David Beckham is fantastic. I hope he doesn't do very well, because he plays with the enemy," he said.
"But I hope he brings a lot of attention with him. He's more than a player, he's something special in the world, not just in the world of sport, and I'm really happy.
"Beckham, Ronaldinho and Ibrahimovic - these are the kind of players we need to have in the Italian league to make it again a good commercial product abroad because I think that's the next step. We need to sell better this product."

Beckham wants to stay fit to earn a place in England squad
The Portuguese coach emphasized on the importance of having a multitude of stars in the Italian League, saying it would help the prominent competition be at the same level as the Premier League.
"I'm happy. I want my league to be the best. I want my league to be important. I want my league to be not just important in Italy, but also in the world." he added.
"In England I was proud that the Premiership was reaching levels of popularity around the world.
"I think we are doing something important in Italy because the Serie A is much better than it was last season."
The former Manchester United ace opted to join Carlo Ancelotti's men to keep his form up during the MLS League break.
