Marseille secured their place in the UEFA Cup following their goalless draw with Atletico Madrid and PSV Eindhoven's 3-1 defeat against Liverpool on Tuesday. The French side finished Group D of the Champions League in the third place on four points, one ahead of PSV. Liverpool and Atletico, both reached the knock-out stage of the CL before Tuesday's games, came first and second on 14 and 12 points respectively. The Premiership leaders were one down after 36 minutes, with Danko Lazovic slotting home after capitalizing on a neat corner-kick. But Ryan Babel equalized just before the break when he towered above his defenders and headed an inch-perfect free-kick past keeper Andreas Isaksson. Albert Riera put the visitors ahead with a long-range drive in the in the 68th minute and David N'Gog secured the three points nine minutes later with a low shot.
