Ahli will start defending their CAF Champions League title by facing the winner of Tanzanian champions Young Africans and Etoile d'or de Mirontsy of Comores in the competition's round of 32. The six-time champions will kick-off their Champions League campaign on 13th, 14th or 15th of March 2009, and the second leg will be held on April 3rd, 4th or 5th. The fixture is considerably easy for the Red Devils, as neither Young Africans nor Etoile have any history or experience competing in the Champions League. In the CAF Confederation Cup's last 16 round, Harras Hodoud will clash with either Gormahya of Kenya or Armée Patriotique Rwandaise (APR) FC Rwanda. Other Egyptian club taking part in the competition will be ENPPI, who will face the winner of Ugandan outfit Victors FC and Zimbabwe's Caps United. The CAF Confederation Cup round of 32 will be played on the same timing as the Champions League's.
