Lierse's Egyptian right-back Ahmed Samir said on Friday he wasn't ready yet to rejoin former club Zamalek due to their instability. Samir revealed two months ago that he snubbed an approach from Ahli because he holds out hope of having another spell with their arch-rivals Zamalek. But he decided to remain at Belgian second-division side Lierse, at least until the end of the season. “I have received an offer from Zamalek to join them in January,” the 27-year-old told FilGoal.com. “But the club's instability has forced me to reconsider my initial stance. I might delay any plans to join Zamalek until they hold their board elections.” Zamalek have been in a state of disarray since chairman Mamdouh Abbas handed in his resignation after learning that the Egyptian National Sports Council (NSC) intend to sack him and appoint a temporary committee to run the club. The Cairo giants might be facing a gloomy future as their sustained bad results are threatening to dismantle their image of being one of the strongest teams in Egypt and Africa. Promotion Hopes
Samir was further convinced to stay at Lierse after observing their massive progress. “I was dejected at the beginning of the season due to Lierse's disappointing results.” “But the results have greatly improved. We revived our promotion hopes after moving from the tenth spot to the third.” Samir, who scored a superb goal in Lierse's 3-0 victory over Sint Truidense on Saturday, has also resolved his differences with coach Herman Helleputte as well as sorting out some personal issues. “I had a problem with the coach during the month of Ramadan because he didn't want me to fast. I was left out of the team's squad as a result.” “But everything now is fine; I regained my position as a regular first-team member after Ramadan ended and my family is now staying with me in Belgium.” The former Harras Hodoud and ENPPI man hopes to earn an Egypt call-up. “I'm doing my best to return to the national team. I hope Egypt technical staff would watch me in action to assess my displays.”
