Rwanda defender Hamad Ndikumana 'Katauti' believes his side can reach the 2010 World Cup as he concedes that Egypt are firm favorites for the berth. The Omonia Nicosia center-half, who was about to quit the national team, stressed that he will focus on helping his nation in the World Cup qualifiers before deciding on his future. "I will plan for my future after guiding Rwanda to the World Cup finals and if we combine our efforts, we are going to make it," he told Rwandan New Times newspaper. Rwanda are clear-cut outsiders in the final qualifiers round Group C, which features African champions Egypt, Algeria and Zambia. However, Katauti sees hope of the Amavubi Stars defying all odds to make it to South Africa. "I believe, apart from Egypt, all the countries in our group are not better than Rwanda and if we maintain our discipline and determination, we will make it to the World Cup." Rwanda, who impressively beat Morocco 3-1 in June, will start their final round campaign at home against Algeria on March 28th 2009.
