PepsiCo International has signed a new deal with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), to sponsor the continent's top competitions until 2016. Pursuant to the new agreement, the multinational corporation is to sponsor the top four African championships, (African Cup of Nations, African Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup and African Youth Championship). PepsiCo regional and continental chairman Mr.Tarek Kabil penned the new contract, along with CAF member Hany Abu-Rida, during a press conference at Conrad Hotel in Cairo. The African confederation president Issa Hayatou has also witnessed the signing of the new deal, which was completed after a couple of brief speeches. Numerous media men have covered the prestigious signing ceremony, and some sports figures attended the event, such as former Egypt coach Mahmoud Al-Gohari. The beverage powerhouse's rapport with CAF has started in 2003, when the former sponsored the African Champions League and the African Cup of Nations. Upon inking the second consecutive agreement, the fruitful cooperation has been extended for more than seven years. Worldwide Sponsorships PepsiCo, a top company in the production of carbonated waters and snacks, has a long history of sponsoring championships, clubs and footballers. It is currently sponsoring a number of high-profile footballers all over the world, including the likes of Thierry Henry, Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Frank Lampard and David Beckham. In Egypt, PepsiCo is sponsoring several prominent players as well, including Mohamed Abou-Treika and Amr Zaki, who are nominated for the 2008 African Footballer of the Year award.
