Manchester United faced no obstacles in beating Blackburn Rovers 2-0 at Ewood Park on Saturday. Goals from Wes Brown in the 31st minute and a superb finish from Wayne Rooney on 64 minutes handed Alex Ferguson's men the victory. United had the upper hand throughout the whole game, and Blackburn's only noticeable effort came on 15 minutes when Edwin Van Der Saar did well to save Roque Santa Cruz's shot. On the 31st minute, Brown heaed a United corner into the back of the net. Rovers' keeper Jason Brown claimed he was fouled by Nemanja Vidic but replays showed the contact was accidental. The home side suffered a Santa Cruz injury blow in the second half and the Paraguayan had to be replaced by Jason Roberts on 51 minutes. Despite Blackburn's efforts to equalize, United were still on top of the game and on 64 minutes Rooney capped a counter attack by brilliantly turning Cristiano Ronaldo's cross into the top corner. Substitute Carlos Tevez could have added a third in the 86th minute but his shot struck Brown's left post. The win lifts United to sixth position in the table with eleven points with Blackburn staying in ninth with ten points and one game more than United.
