Egyptian striker Mido insists Middlesbrough fans are yet to see the best of him, citing his continuous injury problems. The 25-year-old was restricted to limited appearances with Boro last term following an injury-plagued season. But he approached the new season in a different shape after losing weight in the summer. Mido scored in Middlesbrough's 2-1 victory over his former club, Tottenham Hotspur, in the Premiership opener. "Everybody who knows about sport injuries knows how bad it is when you get inflammation on the pubic bone," he told the Gazette on Thursday. "I couldn't do any movement and they wouldn't have known that.
"I think the fans knew before I signed here what I can do for the team and it was a big disappointment for me last season and hopefully this season things will go right now I've got myself fit." Competition Mido believes that competition for places upfront will benefit Middlesbrough in their league campaign. The former Roma and Marseille man competes with Tuncay Sanli, Afonso Alves and Jeremie Aliadiere for a place in Gareth Southgate's squad. "There's a lot of competition for places, especially up front, and all I can say is that's got to be good for the club." "It's a healthy situation and the good thing is we have different types of attacking players. "I'm not the same player as Afonso Alves or Tuncay or Jeremie Aliadiere, which gives the manager options for different games."
