The fourth day of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing witnessed a series of defeats for Egyptian athletes in various competitions.
Egypt's Handball and Volleyball teams were handed defeats in their respective group games.
The men's Handball team were unfortunate to lose (28-27) to Russia, who scored twice inside the last minute to claim the victory.
Egypt will play their third game on Thursday, when they tackle world champions Germany at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium.
In the Volleyball Pool B preliminaries, the Pharaohs were handed a second consecutive 3-0 defeat to Poland.
Despite a solid first half (25-21), the Pharaohs' performance declined as they lost the second half (25-18) and the third half (25-10).
Triple Defeat
In the men's Fencing individual sabre round of 64, Egyptian trio Mahmoud Samir, Gamal Fathi and Shadi Talaat were knocked out early.
Samir was beaten by Brazil's Renzo Agresta 15-10, Fathi was defeated 15-8 by Canada's Philippe Beaudry, while Talaat lost 15-7 to Valery Pryiemka of Belarus.

In the 50m pistol, Sami Abdul-Razek did not make it to final, as he finished 32nd in the qualification after scoring 549 points.
In the 50m trap, UAE's Ahmed Al-Maktoum missed out on the final by one point after he finished seventh in the qualification.
Walton Eller from Great Britain won the gold medal, Italy's Francesco Daniello won silver and China's Binyuan Hu won bronze.
