Ismaili defender Sherif Abdul-Fadil admitted that Ahli are interested in acquiring his services, but reiterated his commitment to the Dervishes. "I won't sign for Ahli in January as some reports claimed because I've just extended my deal with Ismaili," Abdul-Fadil told FilGoal.com. The combative defender has penned a five-year contract extension with the Egyptian League runners-up in June. "It is true that Ahli want to sign me but I intend to honor my Ismaili deal." Abdul-Fadil has established himself as a key member of Ismaili's squad. He attracted interest from Egyptian champions Ahli, who have some defensive problems. The Red Devils are yet to cover the absence of veteran sweeper Emad Al-Nahhas, who sustained a serious knee injury last season. Despite signing a host of players in the close season, Ahli did not land any recognized defender.
