Nigeria Olympic team coach Samson Siasia has decided to end speculation regarding Taye Taiwo as he dropped the Marseille full-back from the Beijing 2008 squad. Taiwo was the subject of a row between Nigeria and Marseille, with the latter refusing to release him for the Olympic Games this summer. The Nigerians were furious with L'OM's stance, which came against FIFA's rules of obliging clubs to release under-23 players for the Olympics. "Even if he comes here now, it'll take him up to the quarter-finals before he can play, with the time difference and the weather to adjust to," said Nigeria boss Siasia. "It's just waste of time, I'm distraught. I've been trying to reach him and I don't know what exactly is going on." The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) are expected to take action against Marseille after losing the influential defender this summer. Taiwo, who is a regular for the Super Eagles, was replaced by Boavista defender Olufemi Oladapo.
