Barcelona will be obliged to release Lionel Messi for the Olympic Games, according to Spanish daily Marca. The Catalans initially refused to let Messi participate with Argentina in Beijing Games, which kicks off in August. But FIFA vice-president Julio Grondona, who is also the Argentinean Football Association president, said the talented winger should be able to take part in the Olympics. He insisted that all U-23 players who are recalled to the tournament must be released regardless of their clubs' approval. However, the clubs have the right to keep their players who are over that age, even if they are recalled to the Olympics.
