Schalke have booked a place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after beating Portuguese champions FC Porto 4-1 on penalties, following a 1-1 aggregate draw. Porto won 1-0 on the night though, courtesy of a wonder strike from Argentine goal machine Lisandro Lopez four minutes from time. The Portuguese league top scorer twisted and turned before smashing a wonderfully-placed shot into the top corner of the net. The ultra-defensive Schalke held on firmly in extra time as the match had to be decided on penalties. Neuer show Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer capped a brilliant performance during the 120 minutes of the game with two crucial shootout saves. Neuer thwarted Bruno Alves, before producing a marvelous one-handed save to deny goal scorer Lisandro. Rafinha, Ivan Rakitic, Halil Altintop and Jermaine Jones made no mistake for the German Bundesliga side.
