A superb finish by Joe Cole earned Chelsea a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park to keep them in the title chase. The former West Ham winger was sent clear by a magnificent through ball from Salomon Kalou to apply the finish and score the only goal of the game. Both keepers Petr Cech and Brad Friedel had to make some stretches to prevent anymore goals. The woodwork also denied some chances from but notably Roque Santa Cruz's effort. Frank Lampard went very close from securing the victory but his shot was deflected by Friedel and off the post. Cech had to quit the game in the 62nd minute and was substituted by Hilario. The result leaves Chelsea with 37 points six behind leaders Arsenal.
