Manchester United crush Dynamo Kiev to secure knockout berth
Published in FilGoal on 07 - 11 - 2007

Sir Alex Ferguson celebrated his 21st year in charge of Manchester United with a crushing 4-0 win over minnows Dynamo Kiev at Old Trafford in Group F of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Debutant Gerard Pique and Argentinean international scored before the break while Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo completed the rout in the 76th and 88th minute.
The win helped United book qualification to the knockout stages as they took their tally 12 points in first place. Meanwhile Dynamo's chances have been diminished after failing to bag a single point.
Pique headed United into the lead in the 31st minute after Ronaldo's free-kicked bumped into Tevez's head and into the Spaniard's path.
Six minutes later, Tevez doubled the lead after a neat give and go with Wayne Rooney allowed him to fire into the back of the net.
In the 76th minute, Nani whipped in an inch-perfect cross from the right that was slotted home clinically by Wayne Rooney.

Liedson scored twice for Sporting
With two minutes left to play, Patrice Evra slipped a silky through pass to Ronaldo who cut inside the box and curled the ball home past goalkeeper Shovkovskiy.
In Lisbon, David Pizarro scored an 89th minute to help Roma hold Sporting to a 2-2 draw.
Pizarro's sizzling drive was deflected home by defender Anderson Polga into his own goal.
Roma had grabbed an the lead only four minutes into the game when Simone Perrotta set-up Marco Cassetti who fired an unstoppable drive into the top corner from just outside the box.
The hosts equalized on 22 minutes thanks to some sloppy defending from Philippe Mexes who crashes into goalkeeper Doni and slides the ball into Liedson's path only for the Brazilian to slot home from point blank range.
Liedson added the second for Sporting in the 64th minute but Pizarro ruined his night with the equalizer.
The result means Roma hold on to second place with 7 points while Sporting remain third with four points.
