AC Milan have lodged an appeal against UEFA's decision to ban goalkeeper Nelson Dida for two Champions League games after being accused of playacting during the Rossoneri's 2-1 defeat at Celtic a fortnight ago. The Brazilian theatrically fell to the ground after he was slightly struck in the head by an out of order Celtic fan, following Scott McDonald's injury time winner for the Scots. "We sent off the appeal for Dida a little while ago," Milan vice-chairman Adriano Galliani told reporters on Wednesday. The Serie A side will hope that the decision could be overruled in order to have their first-choice goalie available for next week's matchday. "The important thing is that a final decision arrives before next Wednesday's Champions League game (against Shakhtar Donetsk). Dida did not do anything. On the contrary, he was attacked". Moreover, Milan lawyer Leandro Cantamessa is also working on the case, in an attempt to lessen the sanction imposed on Dida. "My point of view is the same as the club's and I believe that there will be a reduction of the sentence, if there isn't then I have failed," Cantamessa told Affarriitaliani.it.
