Norwegian coach Egil Olsen registered a poor start of his era with the Iraq National team after losing to Qatar 3-2 in Doha on Tuesday. Ahmed Salah's 20th minute opener was cancelled out by Sayed Bashir in the 34th minute and Sebastian Quintana put the hosts in the lead in the 70th minute. The Asian Champions managed to level the score, 2-2, courtesy to Emad Mohamed, 80, but Saad Al-Shemari had the last word 7 minutes before time. This game was Iraq first task since their Asian Nations Cup glory last July under the helm of Brazilian tactician Jorvan Vieira.
