Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri praised on-fire striker David Trezeguet, who snatched a precious victory for the Bianconeri against city rivals Torino on Saturday. The Juve boss hailed the 'character' of the whole team after the tense Turin derby contest, settled by an injury time strike from the French striker. Trezegol notched in his seventh goal in six Serie A games to give his side a last-gasp 1-0 victory, which kept them in title contention with one point adrift of leaders Inter Milan. "A derby is always a derby and it is wonderfully satisfying to win one, it may not have had the prettiest football, but it was a battle between two sides who really wanted the win," Ranieri said after the game. "Trezeguet is in stunning form at the moment. He is really enjoying his football and what I notice is that he puts more pressure on opposition defenders." Juve will watch Serie A rivals AC Milan, Inter and Roma play midweek Champions League football, but Ranieri believes his side's absence from continental competition could be beneficial. "The fact we are not playing in Europe will keep us fresher, so anything we can do to stay in the general vicinity of the leading group is absolutely fine," he added.
