Ferguson hails late Rooney show
Published in FilGoal on 25 - 04 - 2007

Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted with Wayne Rooney's influence in the dramatic first leg 3-2 win against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday.
A second-half brace from the England striker completed a strong fight back for the Red Devils to turn their 2-1 first-half hindering following a superb double from Kaka.
United boss Ferguson believes that Rooney's second-half impact could be the key to the final in Athens.
"He was a threat to them all night and the winning goal was incredible. He didn't take a touch but hit it first time and it was a brilliant goal," Ferguson told a press conference.
"Wayne's goals have put us in a fantastic position. I think we will score over there again with the speed of the team.
Even though the tie could be regarded as an evenly balanced contest with the tight score line, but the Scotsman is confident his team can make it.
"It will not be easy in Milan but they know it won't be easy either. One thing is I think we have an outstanding chance now."
Match winner Rooney was overjoyed by his vital contribution to the team, saying that Ferguson's half-time team talk had its positive effect.
"We knew if we could get a victory here it would make it a bit easier going to Milan and a goal in the last minute was a great feeling," Rooney told reporters.
"Being 2-1 behind at half time we knew it was going to be difficult to get the win but the manager said at half-time keep pushing, keep going and you will get goals at the end."
United captain Ryan Giggs is aware that the job is not yet finished, but is adamant that the team can create more chances at the San Siro.
"We feel we're going to create chances every time we go out," Giggs said.
"It's always difficult going to San Siro but we've seen enough from the second half to show we can go there and get a good result."
Then Premiership leader will travel to face Milan at San Siro next Wednesday.
