Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski has admitted he is a Barcelona fan while expressing his confidence of his team's ability to eliminate Real Madrid from the UEFA Champions League. Podolski has also revealed he supports Spanish giants Barcelona, referring to his desire to please the Catalan fans by dumping their local rivals out of Europe. "I'm a passionate Barcelona fan; I want to cause their fans pleasure," Podolski told German daily Bild on Monday. "That's also another reason for me to beat Real Madrid."
The 21-year-old striker has regained his form since the arrival of coach Ottmar Hitzfeld who succeeded Felix Magath at the Bavarian helm. Podolski scored a goal and dished out two assists helping Bayern to a 3-2 away win over Hertha Berlin the German Bundesliga on Saturday. Bayern Muncih will host Real Madrid on Wednesday in the round of 16 at Allianz Arena, having lost 3-2 to the Spaniards at Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg.
