Egyptian Olympic team coach Eduardo Vingada has set his sight on a huge victory over Ivory Coast in the first-leg of the 2008 Beijing Games second round qualifiers in Cairo on Wednesday. The Portuguese manager told reporters on Tuesday that even though the Ivorian team is one to be reckoned with, he is planning to blitz them in order to come out with the best possible result. “Lets not kid ourselves, Ivory Coast is a strong team, but I am going to make use of the home field advantage in tomorrow's game. “My plan is to come out with a huge victory in order to play a more comfortable second-leg when we face them in Abidjan two weeks from now,” said Vingada.
Vingada The Egyptian Olympic team can count on huge support from local fans on Wednesday as the game precedes the friendly international between Egypt and Sweden, which is part of CAF's 50th anniversary celebrations. A comfortable win for Egypt's Olympians could help them secure passage for the final (group) round in the Olympic qualifiers. The Egyptians were crowned champions of the “Friendship Tournament” in Qatar after crushing Belarus 4-1 in the final game last week.
