A double salvo from striker Amr Zaki gave Zamalek a hard fought 2-1 win at Ittihad Alexandria in the Egyptian league on Sunday. Zaki fired Zamalek ahead in the 23rd minute but his effort was cancelled out by Reda Ragab seven minutes after restart. But Zaki had the final word as he headed home in the 70th minute to give Zamalek a precious away victory. Ittihad finished the match with ten men after Ghanaian Samuel Kyere was sent off four minutes from time for a second bookable offense.
The win kept Zamalek in contention with 26 points in third place, three points behind leaders Ahli, with a game in hand. Zaki opened Zamalek's account when he pounced on a long pass from Mostafa Gaafar and slotted home past Ittihad's advancing keeper Essam Mahmoud. Ittihad pushed forward for an equalizer and achieved their goal when Ragab connected with an Ahmed Hassan cross to head home from close range. Ittihad's celebrations were short lived as Zaki got on the end of an inch-perfect Gamal Hamza cross to glance home a brilliant header in the 70th minute. Elsewhere, Tersana held ENPPI to a goalless draw.
