Hernan Crespo scored an early goal to give Inter Milan a 1-0 victory over Reggina on Sunday and fire them up to the Serie A summit as challengers Palermo lost to Cagliari with the same result. Title hopefuls AS Roma kept Inter in sight with a thrashing 7-0 victory over ten-man Catania. Inter are now at the top of the table with 30 points, three ahead of Palermo and four clear off third-placed Roma. At the San Siro, Inter scored a fourth-minute winner when Patrick Vieira nodded the ball into Crespo's path only for the Argentinean international to volley home. Reggina's Rolando Bianchi found the net in the closing stages of the game but his goal was ruled out for offside. At the Olympic Stadium, Simone Perrotta and Christian Panucci scored a brace each to help Roma produce their biggest win of the season. Captain Francesco Totti, Brazilian winger Mancini and substitute striker Vincenzo Montella completed the rout. Catania striker Giuseppe Mascara was shown a straight red card for elbowing marker Cristian Chivu in the 15th minute. Davide Baiocco was also dismissed in the dying seconds for a second booking.
