Barcelona forward Lionel Messi sustained a foot injury that will sideline him for up to three months, the Spanish champions said on Monday. "Messi has broken the fifth metatarsal in his left foot. He will need surgery and the estimated time out will be around three months," Barcelona said on their official website. The Argentinean international picked up the injury in the first-half of Barcelona's La Liga victory over Real Zaragoza on Sunday. Messi's injury comes as a huge blow for Barcelona who have already lost star striker Samuel Eto'o to a long-term injury. The 19-year-old will miss Barcelona's crucial Champions League Group A matches against Levski Sofia and Werder Bremen, in addition to the Club World Cup in Japan in December. Brazilian midfielder Edmilson also suffered an injury in the match against Zaragoza and will be sidelined for 10 days.
