Tottenham Hotspur grabbed their first Premiership win over Chelsea in 16 years after they came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory at the White Hart Lane on Sunday. Michael Dawson's header in the 25th minute cancelled out Claude Makelele's opener in the 15th minute before a brilliant second-half strike by Aaron Lennon sealed the precious win for Spurs. Chelsea skipper John Terry was sent-off in the 72nd minute after picking a second yellow card following a row with Tottenham full-back Pascal Chimbonda. The result put Chelsea in second place of the Premiership table with 25 points, three behind leaders Manchester United while Tottenham moved to the 10th spot on 15 points. Egypt midfielder Hossam Ghaly played the full 90 minutes and impressed with his versatility and dazzling displays, while Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' was kept on the bench by Tottenham coach Martin Jol. Blues Dutch winger Arjen Robben almost put the visitors ahead in the 14th minute when he latched-on to Michael Ballack's long pass before going face-to-face with Paul Robinson, but Ledley King took advantage of his hesitation to intercept and clear the ball.
Ghaly impressed Just one minute later, French midfielder Makelele scored a rare goal, his second for Chelsea since arriving from Real Madrid, when he capitalized on King's clearance on the edge of the area to unleash a powerful first-timer into the right bottom corner. Dawson leveled the score ten minutes later after he rose above Didier Drogba to head Jermaine Jenas' free-kick into the back of the net. Tottenham were ahead seven minutes after re-start following a superb work from Robbie Keane and Lennon in addition of some poor defending from substitute Khalid Boulahrouz and Ashley Cole. Irish international Keane raced down the right flank and rounded the helpless Boulahrouz before crossing the ball to Lennon, who side-stepped Cole and fired a left-footed strike past Hilario. Robben almost equalized three minutes before the final whistle as he curled a wonderful shot that struck the post from the edge of the area.
