Egypt's U-20 national team has been drawn with Nigeria, Cameroon and Zambia in Group B of the 2007 African Cup of Nations that will take place in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Hosts DR Congo were seeded on top of Group A that includes Ivory Coast, Gambia and Burkina Faso. African football's governing body, CAF, is yet to announce the final schedule for the tournament that kicks-off on January 17th, 2007. Egypt's coach Ismail Youssef has expressed trust in his player's ability to surpass the tough group and advance to the semi-finals.
Youssef "Any team aiming for the title has to be ready to take on strong contenders, and my players are ready," Youssef told FilGoal.com on Monday. The top three teams in the competition advance to the 2007 FIFA Youth Championship in Canada. The young Pharaohs advanced to the African finals after beating Algeria 4-2 on aggregate in the preliminaries and Burundi 3-0 on aggregate in the second qualifying round.
