Inter-esting debut for Nerazzurri newcomers
Published in FilGoal on 27 - 08 - 2006

Inter Milan newcomers said that team determination and the continuous support from fans granted them a memorable debut as Inter produced a historic comeback against AS Roma in the Italian Super Cup.
Patrick Vieira, Hernan Crespo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Fabio Grosso, who all joined the San Siro club this summer, played pivotal roles in Inter's rebirth after they looked on their way to a disastrous season opening on Saturday.
Roma stunned the home crowd with three successive goals in just 34 minutes before Roberto Mancini's men rose from the ashes to score four times and snatch their third Super Cup trophy in history.
"It was a very difficult match for us but we fought until the end and we are very happy that we have won this cup," Vieira told Inter.it following the extra-time victory.
"The team gave a great reaction, we showed that we always want to win," added the France captain, who scored Inter's first and third goals.
Vieira signed for Inter from Juventus who were relegated to the second division by an Italian court after being found guilty of sporting fraud.
This was Vieira's first competitive game in Inter's colors alongside his former Juventus mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who partnered Brazil's Adriano in up front.

Crespo
Ibrahimovic also praised the team spirit and the supporters' attitude, saying that the will to win was the secret behind Inter's memorable comeback.
"After a first 45 minutes full of mistakes, we were eleven lions on the pitch in the second half. We gave our all and it went well," the Swedish international said.
"I was expecting this great welcome from the Meazza crowd, they really helped us and we are pleased about this."
Italy's World-Cup winning defender Fabio Grosso, who moved to Inter from Palermo, echoed similar sentiments.
"I saw a great stadium, a great crowd and great support that helped us overturn the result," he said.
Even Argentina's prolific striker Crespo, who enjoyed previous spells with Inter, Milan and Lazio, said that the victory marked an extraordinary night.
"It went very well, beyond all expectations I wasn't expecting an evening like this. To equalize and then win really was nice," said Crespo, who scored the second goal.
