Ahli defender Emad Al-Nahhas said on Saturday that Egypt and Zamalek striker Mostafa Gaafar was not the cause of the foot injury that will rule him out for up to three months. "Gaafar isn't responsible in any way for my injury, it was just a usual 50-50 ball with the Zamalek striker," Al-Nahhas told FilGoal.com. The 30-year-old sweeper broke a metatarsal and rupturing ankle ligaments in the first minute of Hadi Khashaba's testimonial on Friday following a challenge with Gaafar. Al-Nahhas was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery before the Ahli medical services announced the long lay-off. Al-Nahhas also denied reports that the severity of his injury happened because he hadn't fully recovered from a previous kick. "My injury has nothing to do with the light groin strain I suffered a week ago," Al-Nahhas added. The former Ismaili man optimistically confirmed that he expects to be back training with the team within six weeks or two months at most. The injury is a major blow for Ahli who are missing instrumental midfielders Mohamed Barakat and Angola's Amaral Sebastiao Dag 'Gilberto'. Shadi Mohamed is likely to replace Al-Nahhas starting from Sunday's Egyptian Super Cup clash with Enppi.
